Brown marmorated stink bugs pose a high biosecurity risk to Australia because of their tendency to hitchhike, highly mobile nature and the lack of effective lures.
Australian Quarantine Import Requirements on BMSB
Department of Agriculture & Water Resources (DAWR), Australian Quarantine, has issued a confirmation on the requirements to fumigate any goods originated from the range of countries (e.g. France, Germany, Italy, USA, Georgia, Greece, Romania, and Russia) that require Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) treatment. Containers that are shipped from Singapore that contain goods from these countries’ origin will also be subjected to Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) requirements.

If you have consignments of origins from the countries listed, please note of the need to proceed with fumigation (Methyl Bromide) according to DAWR requirements from the period of 1 September 2020 to 01 April 2021.
